Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
2009 will be our fifth year in business.
What is your primary product or service?
Rekeying, repairing, or replacing locks, either residential or commercial. We also do new installations.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Our owner, Barry Campbell, has always had an interest in the security / loss prevention field. He has a B.A. in Criminal Justice. He has worked in security, investigations, and loss prevention management. Barry actually helped two others with locksmithing businesses. He started working as a locksmith with a friend over ten years ago. After a stint in new construction inspections, Barry received two locksmith certifications and started Altic Lock Service.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Many "locksmiths" have questionable training and no certification, building their businesses by preying on customers in emergency situations - locked out of their car or home. Most legitimate locksmiths go after the high-profit commercial access control jobs. We actually focus on the residential field. We also do commercial work, but there is a great deal of job satisfaction in helping other people protect their families and secure their property.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are based on the southeast side of Indianapolis, but do not have a walk-in store location. We are a purely mobile business.
What type of payments do you accept?
At this time, we are only accepting cash or check.
Which areas do you service?
Indianapolis, Marion county and surrounding communities. From Danville to Greenfield, Noblesville to Franklin.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Barry Campbell owns and runs Altic Lock Service.
What are your hours of operation?
Daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. 24-hour emergency service is available to existing customers.
